UUCSR Builds with Habitat for Humanity Long Island

The Social Justice and Religious Education Committees are excited to announce that we will be going to Wyandanch on Saturday, April 18 to build houses with Habitat for Humanity Long Island! There are also opportunities to volunteer at ReStore, Habitat’s home improvement store and donation center in Ronkonkoma.

Key Information

• If you are volunteering on the build site, please arrive at at 8:45am. Your day will begin with an introduction to Habitat for Humanity Long Island and a project overview. You will spend the day working until 2:30pm. Bring a bagged lunch.
• ReStore is open from 9am-6pm. Once we have a group organized that would like to to volunteer at ReStore, we will determine what the best time frame is for that volunteer opportunity. Bring a bagged lunch.
• You must be 16+ years old to volunteer with Habitat. If you are between 16 and 18 years of age, you must fill out this waiver in order to volunteer with Habitat. 
• Check out Habitat's Toolkit for our build, which includes all relevant information like what to bring, the schedule of events, etc.
• Check out Habitat's Toolkit for ReStore, which includes all relevant information about volunteering at Habitat's home improvement store and donation center.
• Click here if you would like to give a monetary contribution toward UUCSR's Habitat for Humanity build! When you are donating, don't forget to check the "Dedicate my donation in honor or in memory of someone" box. Under "Type", click "Honor". Then, under the "Tribute Name" textbox, type in "UUC Shelter Rock".  
• You must register both here and with Habitat in order to volunteer! Please follow the below instructions to register with Habitat.

    • Step 1: Visit site here.
    • Step 2: Sign in to your existing account or register as a new user. 
    • Step 3: Once you are logged in, scroll down and you will see our group listed as “FB- UUC at Shelter Rock”. Click on the “sign up” button. You will receive a confirmation email after you sign up.
  • ReStore Registration:
    • Step 1: Visit site here. 
    • Step 2: Sign in to your existing account or register as a new user.
    • Step 3: Once you are logged in, scroll down and you will see our group listed as "UUC @ Shelter Rock @ ReStore". Click the "sign up" button. You will receive a confirmation email after you sign up.
